2023 has been an incredible year for Vancouver Fringe. As we head into our 40th anniversary year, we wanted to reflect on what made this past year such a success…
As the final applause echoed through the stages of Granville Island, we bid farewell to the 2023 Vancouver Fringe Festival, a year that brought together 214 artists, 89 shows, over 500 performances, and a whopping 10,000 enthusiastic attendees! The city buzzed with energy as we celebrated the incredible diversity of talent that graced our many venues. And hey, that’s just the festival – 2023 has been unforgettable.
Did you know our Festival is un-curated? Our lottery draw takes place at the beginning of the year, where we select the artists who make up the bulk of our performances! It’s a testament to our commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing the unexpected. Our 2024 lottery is currently open, if you’re keen to get on stage, or feel like entering on a whim like Katie Power, enter today!
A highlight of our year was presenting the marvellous Amica Hunter’s “Anatomica” at The Nest Theatre in December. This thought-provoking show that seamlessly blends art and the human experience was a joy to see and the perfect way to end a year of Fringing.
As we get ready for our 40th anniversary year, we invite you to be a part of the Fringe Family! Whether you’re looking to billet a performer, volunteer during the Festival, make a donation, or simply attend one of our shows, there’s a place for you in our community. Your involvement isn’t just welcomed; it’s essential in helping us produce our Festival.
So, here’s to the artists, the dreamers, the vollies, the donors, and the Fringe fans – thank you for making the Vancouver Fringe Festival 2023 an unforgettable experience. Wishing you all a fantastic holiday season and a Fringe-tastic New Year!
