We’re thrilled to welcome Heather Barr (she/her) to the Fringe team as our newly appointed Managing Director.
As the Vancouver Fringe heads into a new season, we’re excited to have Heather join us with her shared values and commitment to inclusive, community driven, and accessible theatre.
Heather comes with a wealth of experience in the arts, most recently as General Manager of rice & beans theatre. Her focus on community engagement, developing safe spaces and uplifting multilingual and BIPOC-led programming will make her a great addition to our team. She is adept at performing multiple roles, whether it be administration, producing, stage managing or all three at once!
As well as her managerial experience, Heather has production and stage management under her belt as she took on those roles while touring the UK (including a stop at Edinburgh Fringe) with Morag, You’re A Long Time Deid by Claire Love Wilson and Peter Lorenz, as well as working on other great indie theatre shows like Double Happiness: Detour This Way by Nancy Tam and Robyn Jacob.
“I am so excited to be welcoming Heather to the Fringe team” said Duncan Watts-Grant, Executive Director. “Heather brings with her enormous experience working in independent theatre as a producer and stage manager, and deep caring for the Fringe community of artists and audiences.”
Heather officially joins the team in January, and we can’t wait to welcome her to the Fringe community.
