Uncomfortable Conversation

Digital Warriors Productions Inc.

When an unexpected situation leaves new settler Leila unable to be intimate with her Afghan husband, she finally experiences something she’s been quietly craving: one uninterrupted night of rest. But her refusal unsettles the fragile balance of her marriage, creating a rift that she shares with Mona—her spirited upstairs neighbor. Mona, bold and determined to seize new possibilities in this unfamiliar land, encourages Leila to speak openly about the tensions brewing in her new home. What begins as a casual conversation between friends slowly becomes something bigger: a reckoning with everything they were taught about womanhood, marriage, and obedience. As their friendship deepens, so does their awareness of the subtle freedoms around them—freedoms they hadn't realized might actually belong to them, too. This play is a portrait of migration, female agency, and the private rebellions that happen far from public view. Audiences can expect an intimate story about sisterhood, culture shock, and transformation—told with heart, and hope.
