(a)political

Bobby Wesley

The true story of an unwinnable campaign in The Villages, Florida – a massive retirement community infamous for its deeply conservative politics and rampant sexual promiscuity. (Gasp!) Armed only with a wide-eyed enthusiasm and a soapbox, two political neophytes/best friends take on an entrenched but incompetent incumbent in a Bush-era battle for Florida’s future. Can their upbeat belief in the process help them pull off the impossible? Or will it end up in a Pollyanna political panic attack?

“(a)political” is about people, not policy. This award-winning storytelling show offers a campaign day-in-the-life in “America’s Friendliest Hometown” complete with line dancing, a how-to for septuagenarian sexual signaling, and the glamor of living in a camper trailer in a cow pasture. Bobby Wesley is pleased to bring to Canada what the Atlanta Fringe team called "a lot of laughs" and “what your heart needs right now,” or as Bobby calls it, “the mea culpa tour.”

Bobby Wesley is a curator of dumb jokes, nerdy obsessions and embarrassingly true stories. He has featured nationally in the US at storytelling festivals and performed at The Moth. His latest show – (a)political – was named a “2025 Orlando Fringe Best of Fest” by the Orlando Weekly.

Bobby co-hosts the award-winning Orlando Story Club, a community-driven, personal narrative storytelling show that just celebrated its 10-year anniversary.

It’s the best thing he gets to do.
