Every Murder has a Happy Ending
Angela Rinaldis

"Every Murder Has a Happy Ending" is a compelling solo show that delves into the transformative journey of a young female criminal defence lawyer during one of British Columbia's most notorious gang trials, concerning 5 men charged with three brutal murders connected to a gang that controlled the drug trade in a small resort town. The trial, which spanned 19 months and became the longest jury trial in the history of Canada, captivated the public and legal community alike.
The protagonist, an ambitious and idealistic lawyer, joins the defence team, eager to make her mark. Initially, she views the case as part of her path to professional success and a chance to prove herself in the legal world. However, as the trial progresses, she finds herself drawn to a colleague, another lawyer with a complicated past. Their professional relationship deepens into a personal one, culminating in an engagement and marriage that surprises even themselves.
The case, while initially just a professional challenge, morphs into a profound life experience that reshapes her understanding of justice, love, redemption and the human condition.
"Every Murder Has a Happy Ending" is a poignant exploration of beauty and hope arising out of a gruesome series of events, blending legal drama with personal transformation in a narrative that resonates long after the final curtain falls.
