One day, the tent pops up in your town. From the boardwalk, you peer with longing at the graceful aerial artist, the fortune teller, the inviting game booths stuffed with prizes...

Until, unable to resist, you step inside the ring of mushrooms.

The Carnival is everything you ever dreamed it would be. Before you can blink, you're witnessing breathtaking feats, strange wonders, and impossible creatures. You rub your eyes, and a passing transdimensional aviatrix with a transatlantic accent and a twinkle in her eye gives your shoulder a reassuring squeeze. The next thing you know, a winsome daredevil is asking for your help with their next escape.

There’s a catch, though.

The Carnival refuses to leave, stop performing, or release the audience unless they can take one human soul with them, to travel forever performing as part of the circus.

Someone always volunteers.
