Join Team Fringe!
Did you know the Vancouver Fringe Festival is one of more than 200 Fringe Festivals worldwide? And that the Fringe concept has been around for 70 years? We are celebrating World Fringe Day on July 11! And the world wants to know what you love about your own Vancouver Fringe Festival or about Fringe in general. See what your Fringe Festival Executive Director David Jordan and your Fringe friend Jimmy have to say here! (And watch the outtakes. Outtakes are the best.)
Submit a short video just like this one by July 4 to design[at]vancouverfringe[dot]com and we’ll share it on July 11 and then again leading up to and during the Festival. You can even shoot it on your smartphone! Or visit our website to learn more.
As a volunteer you will experience the VIP treatment. Volunteers will not only get access to all Fringe Festival shows that aren’t sold out—but volunteers also receive discounts on year round Fringe programming AND an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party. Not convinced? We also have free snacks, refreshments, and of course, the famous Fringe t-shirt!
There are many great positions available including ticket seller, photographer, site crew, bartender, and more! With the variety of positions available, there is sure to be a position that fits you. All you have to do is sign up, or if you are a returning volunteer, update your profile. We’ll send you an email when shifts are available in mid-July.
We are also looking for Team Leaders! Volunteer Team Leaders are responsible for recruiting, scheduling, training, and supervising all of our Festival volunteers! If you want to take on a more administrative role and gain skills in human resources and event planning, you may be a great fit for Team Leader. Positions go from July 10 through to September 24 with a minimum time commitment of 25 hours per week leading up to and during the Festival. If this sounds like a job for you, send your cover letter and resume to Angie Descalzi by Friday, June 30 with “Volunteer Team Leader” in the subject line of your email.
The Vancouver Fringe sends out a big thank you to our sponsor ShearComfort, who’s returning to support our Volunteer Program once again!
Make a donation and become a Fringe Hero! Support the Vancouver Fringe Festival in 2017 with a gift that ensures we can continue to provide Theatre for Everyone. It’s a place where donors can pick up Fringe benefits, buy tickets during peak Box Office hours, check out exclusive merchandise, and be showered with Fringe love and appreciation. Better yet, donate before July 1 and the Vancouver Fringe will publish your name in the upcoming 2017 Program Guide! Click here to become a donor or email Robyn Kurtz.
Looking for a super fun way to donate? A day at the Vancouver Fringe Festival can be YOUR day at the Vancouver Fringe Festival! When any individual or group gives $1,500 or more, we set aside a special day of the Fringe just for you—complete with a customized curtain speech at all Mainstage venues, 10 exchange vouchers good for one show each, and a custom Fringe hoodie! You can spread out your donation in monthly payments or make it a team effort and share the love with your friends! Either way, we’ll name the day after you and proclaim your Fringe Love all day long! Learn more at our website or email Robyn Kurtz.
Debuting its newly minted name, the Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society (VFTS), formerly the First Vancouver TheatreSpace Society (FVTS) will be holding an Annual General Meeting at Big Rock Urban Brewery and Eatery. On Thursday, July 27 at 6:00pm, the producers of the Vancouver Fringe Festival will discuss issues that are important to you and your Fringe Society. If you purchased and activated a Membership at the 2016 Fringe Festival, then you are a Member and eligible to attend and vote during the AGM.
Stick around after the AGM and celebrate the launch of the 2017 Vancouver Fringe Festival Program Guide at the Program Launch Party! Join us as we celebrate the 33rd release of the Festival guide in true Fringe fashion—with drinks and good conversation at the Big Rock Urban Brewery and Eatery.
A formal invite to the meeting and launch party will be sent out soon, but for the time being, be sure to save the date! A big thanks to our sponsors, Big Rock and Blenz Coffee, where you’ll be able to find the guide after July 27.
