Sponsorship and Development Manager

For over 35 years, The Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society has produced the Vancouver Fringe Festival, BC’s largest theatre festival. Pursuing the vision of ‘Theatre for Everyone’, the Fringe Festival features un-curated and uncensored theatre of all kinds for all audiences. The 2022 Festival will take place September 8 – 18 at venues on Granville Island and we are seeking a Sponsorship & Development Manager to join our team.

 

ROLE

The Sponsorship & Development Manager is responsible for the development, growth, maintenance and management of the fundraising activities of the Vancouver Fringe Festival Society including individual fundraising and philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and grant sourcing. They will lead and implement strategies to diversify sources of income for the Society and ensure strong and clear stakeholder relationships to advance the Society’s key objectives. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about supporting indie artists, cultivating community involvement, and fostering the development of theatre and performing arts in Vancouver. The will possess the ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced atmosphere, and be an analytical thinker with excellent organizational skills.

The Sponsorship & Development Manager reports to the Executive Director.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop and lead an annual fundraising plan for the Society in keeping with the Society’s mission, vision and values.

· Work with the Senior Management Team and Board of Directors to identify high-priority fundraising projects and opportunities, delivering to agreed targets.

· Research and secure funding opportunities for the Festival and other Fringe programs.

· Create innovative opportunities to engage individuals, businesses and foundations in fundraising initiatives.

· Secure revenue opportunities through collaborative partnerships and revenue generating projects.

· Cultivate and steward effective relationships with high-net-worth individuals.

· Coordinate and deliver donor-centered communications for events and appeals.

· Oversee the Society’s fundraising events.

· Establish and maintain positive relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, vendors and partners associated with the Festival and other Fringe events and campaigns.

· Administer the Society’s donor, participant and sponsor contacts database.

· Maintain fundraising events calendar.

· Attend festivals, events, shows, exhibitions, industry gatherings and philanthropic activities and events throughout the year, as necessary.

· Monitor fundraising activity trends and identify key issues and opportunities to build successful development strategies.

· Respond to all inquiries relating to fundraising.

· Ensure in coordination with the Marketing & Communications Manager that all communications represent the Fringe’s brand and voice.

· Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and Marketing & Communications Manager to secure in-kind hospitality and venue partners and grow strategic relationships.

· Collaborate closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager to develop and enhance promotion and recognition tools.

· Incorporate as appropriate, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion language and principles in relation to all Development activities of the Society.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or Public Relations.

· 5 years of experience in fundraising.

· Proven experience and ability to close and complete financial deals.

· Demonstrated experience in cultivating relationships and working with partners to deliver high quality events and initiatives.

· Experience with fundraising databases.

· Experience with Microsoft Office 365 or equivalent; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

· Experience working with digital fundraising or marketing platforms.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively for specific audience groups.

· Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, while contributing to a cohesive team environment.

· Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

· Detail oriented.

· Passion for the arts and entertainment industry and for connecting artists and audiences.

· Ability to work flexible hours.

 

Salary range: $50,000 – $55,000 + benefits.

Location: Granville Island, Vancouve
