Kingsgate Chorus
Earth Oddity

It is a beautiful late summer Saturday and a lovely group of singers directed by the talented musician Leah Abramson appears in the Granville Island Public Market and puts on a spectacular show featuring five part arrangements, and an eclectic selection of songs, covering everything from Folk, Rock, Alternative, Pop and Electronica, fit for all ages and a variety of musical tastes. Think Pete Seeger, TLC, Queen and some local faves in the same set list. In the spirit of being fringe, The Kingsgate Chorus presents Earth Oddity!

The Kingsgate Chorus is a 5-part choir that has its roots in East Vancouver, and has been fostering a community of beautiful music and positivity in the city of Vancouver for almost 15 years. Their story started in 2011, when local musician Jenny Ritter was asked by some good friends if she would teach them how to sing harmonies. Those friends invited their friends and the choir was born! Over the past decade, Kingsgate has been directed by Jenny Ritter, Emily Millard, Joline Bayliss, and David Beckingham, and has participated in a number of creative collaborations and community fundraisers with some of Vancouver’s favourite indie artists. Today, 60 singers are led by Leah Abramson, and are a vibrant and diverse community, sharing in a safe space, a common love of singing and music. Community choir is the ultimate mixtape that unites our members by song and a common cause, and we’d love to sing for you! For more information go to www.thekingsgatechorus.com.
