Coming of Rage
Cosmic Theatre Co/Sophia Saugstad
A young girl discovers the thrill of destruction, and with it, a rage unlike anything she has known before. As she grows into a young woman, the same fierce spirit that once drew admiration becomes a source of scrutiny and shame. As she begins to navigate the blurred line between aggression and passion, she must learn how violence is judged differently depending on age, gender, and where you live. Coming of Rage is a new dark comedy that combines masks, puppetry, music, spoken text, ensemble movement, and imaginative handmade props to explore what it means to grow up in a world exposed to violence on a daily basis.
Blending childlike playfulness with a sharp satirical script, Coming of Rage journeys through the stories we inherit and build our dreams upon, the fierce and unruly nature of our changing bodies, and the challenge of becoming women in a world that seeks to diminish us—all while finding unexpected tenderness and humour along the way.
