Colonial Circus – History, Clown Style
Two2Mango
What if Colonizers were clowns?
Two Brown Clowns, pretending to be British Colonizers, take you through the history of colonialism with a wink and a play. Colonial Circus—Patrons' Pick, Critics' Choice at Orlando Fringe, and Artists' Pick at Edmonton Fringe—is coming to Vancouver with new bits, sharp satire, loads of laughter and gasps.
This show has travelled the continent (Orlando, Cincinnati, Toronto, St. John’s, Montreal, and Edmonton) and even crossed the pond (London, UK), collecting laughs and awards such as Outstanding Clown show – Montreal Fringe, Spirit of the Fringe – Toronto Fringe, and more.
This wild clown show mixes history, humour, and a dash of Alejandro Jodorowsky-inspired mysticism into one thrilling, unpredictable ride. You’ll laugh, you’ll cringe, and probably ask, “Did I just laugh at that?!”
“There’s nothing like it on any other stage” - Liz Nicholls, Edmonton
“Brilliantly saddling the serious and the silly.” – Orlando Sentinel
“Surreally spicy slice of protest art” - Orlando Weekly
"Unique and entertaining spin on an important issue” - Broadway World
“Clownish two-hander’s off-kilter tone disorients — in a good way” - Next Magazine
“Hysterical physicality and chemistry between Parashar and Sharma” - Intermission Magazine
"Political clowning; bizarre, hallucinogenic, irresistible"- London Pub Theatres
"Your cheeks hurt from laughing so much, your heart will suddenly ache as well." - Broadway World
