Blinded By The Love
The Fringe is a place for emerging artists to experiment with their art and to learn to produce a show… and to be part of a big party! So it’s no surprise that The After After Party not only fit into the 2016 Fringe, but that they won the Public Market Pick of the Fringe, the Georgia Straight Critics’ Choice Awards, and the Cultchivating the Fringe Award!
The Cultchivating the Fringe Award means that a Fringe show becomes part of an upcoming season at The Cultch—an amazing learning experience for emerging artists.

You love theatre. You see a lot of theatre. You wish you saw more theatre. If any, or all of these statements applies to you, you should really look into booking a Theatre Wire subscription! It’s as easy as checking out the Theatre Wire subscription page and booking tickets to at least three shows. That’s it. When you go to pay, your subscription discount is applied automatically, you become a subscriber, and you are entitled to some great subscriber benefits! Theatre Wire subscription shows are award winning, presented by the most talented independent theatre makers in Vancouver, and start as low as $16.50, before your subscriber discount!
Consider starting off your Theatre Wire Subscription with Blindside. You may recognize Stephanie Morin-Robert as one half of The Merkin Sisters, or as one half of Bushel and Peck. In her solo show Blindside, Stephanie integrates live video projection, contemporary dance, and comedic storytelling as she recounts her life as a feisty 7-year-old who wields her disability as a weapon. The show is on April 26 through 28.
Fringe Lover Kevin Campbell put up $5,000 and asked you to step up and support the Fringe and Theatre Wire with a donation, and boy did you ever! With one day to go we met our target and with Kevin’s match have raised $10,000! Thank you to all our donors! For anyone who was planning to donate, don’t worry, now is still a great time! We’re planning the 34th annual Festival and the fourth season of Theatre Wire and you will make a difference to arts and culture in Vancouver and the world with your support! Once again, thank you Kevin and thank you all!
Always the banker in Monopoly? Love the Fringe? Show your love by helping us find a new Treasurer for the Fringe/VFTS Board (Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society).
Our very capable current treasurer, Bob Wang, will be leaving us in July, so we need someone to become the next Fringe Treasurer. As the treasurer, you would oversee the preparation of the annual budget, quarterly reports, and generally keeping on top on financial issues and helping keep the board informed.
See more details on the duties and skills we require. If you’re interested in this opportunity, please contact Board member and Board Affairs Committee member, Jim Sibley at jim[dot]sibley[at]gmail[dot]com.
Still considering becoming a 2018 Fringe artist? There are just a few options left!
Site-Specific Applications: Think you have a perfect show to be performed at a specific location (ie not a theatre setting)? Is it walking distance to Granville Island or Havana on Commerical Drive? We’re still accepting proposals! Click here for more information! Proposals will be accepted until March 15.
That’s all for now! Mainstage artists have been drawn and Dramatic Works Series artists are now being waitlisted. If other opportunities arise, we’ll let you know!
