Deaf and HoH Accessibility

The Fringe is very excited to get more involved with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. We are working to improve our accessibility and welcome any feedback!

Artist-selected d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing Friendly Shows were reviewed, and ASL Interpretation has been selected and chosen by Landon Krentz, Director of Artistic Sign Language.

VOLUNTEERING:

If you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and would like to volunteer with us, we have positions available for you! Please click here for more information on how to sign up. If you are an ASL Interpreter and would like to volunteer your skills to interpret for Deaf or Hard of Hearing volunteers, please contact us!

INTERPRETED PERFORMANCES

Dissection of a Indian Aboriginal First Nation Indigenous Native Full-Blood StatusNon-Status Halfbreed Métis Rez Urban Mixed Heritage Woman will be ASL Interpreted on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:30pm at the Revue Stage.

Old-ish will be ASL Interpreted on Friday, September 13 at 7:45pm at Havana Theatre.

Borderline A**hole will be ASL Interpreted on Saturday, September 14 at 12:45pm at False Creek Gym.

We regret to inform you that the ASL Interpretation for Mx’s performance on Sunday, September 15 at 5:15pm at the Revue Stage has been cancelled.
Also note that the following shows will be ASL Interpreted:
Monica vs. The Internet: Tales of a Social Justice Warrior on Sunday, September 15 at 3:15pm at The Nest.
4.48 Psychosis on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00pm at Vancity Culture Lab.

RESERVED SEATING:

If you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and require priority seating to view any performance, please let our Front of House volunteers know. The house opens 15 minutes before show time and you will be granted priority access to the venue.

“FRIENDLY” SHOWS:

The artists have self-reported whether they consider their shows “Deaf and Hard of Hearing Friendly,” which suggests their meaning and enjoyment does not depend on sound elements. For full show descriptions and tickets, click the show title.

These shows are largely non-verbal and may be suitable for patrons new to the English language.
