1. The Application Process

Always wanted to create a Fringe show, but don’t have a specific idea? Have people you want to work with and looking for a place to start? Interested in thinking ‘out of the black box’ and creating site-specifically?

Fringe Onsite is a project with The Only Animal that will help you develop your own site-specific work for the 2012 Fringe (September 6-16).  During the spring and summer, participants will work intensively with Vancouver’s premier site-specific creators, The Only Animal, to embrace every nook and cranny of Granville Island and bring them to life for the Fringe in September!

Onsite applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis and will be placed on the line-up page.  There are 14 Onsite spots available for the 2012 Fringe. All other applicants will be placed on the waitlist.

Onsite shows are not eligible for Pick of the Fringe.

Note: Onsite applications with pre-established scripts will not be accepted.

For accepted Onsite Applicants, the Fringe will provide:

  • 11 weeks of development workshops with the Fringe and the Only Animal. Instruction will cover the entire creative process, from site and story development, to technical design, to marketing.

2. Fee Structure & Payment

Onsite applicants are required to pay the Onsite Artist Fee of $800.00 (HST-free!) within one week of receiving application approval. Payment instructions will be included in the approval email.  After this deadline, accepted artists with outstanding payment will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist, and the first waitlisted artist will be offered their spot.

Payment of the Onsite Artist Fee confirms your acceptance of a spot in the Festival, giving you a maximum of 10 performances for Onsite shows of any performance length. (Shows at very small venues may be permitted to have more than 10 performances with Fringe approval).

A non-refundable $50.00 administration fee is included in the Fringe Onsite Artist Fee.

There will be a charge of $25.00 for all cheques with non-sufficient funds.

Accepted artists may withdraw from the Fringe until Wednesday April 4, 2012. Companies that withdraw before or on this date will have their Onsite Artist Fee refunded (less the $50 administration fee).

All accepted and waitlisted Onsite artists are also invited to come to the “Onsite 101” Intro Meeting, Mar 22, 2012 at 7pm at the Festival House Common Room, 1398 Cartwright St. Mark your calendars!
