More Fringe Just For You!

They’re baaaaaack!! Pick Plus returns September 22-25 with a series of Fringe hits! All the shows featured in the Pick Plus are popular Fringe acts from the past or from other Fringe Fests, and handpicked for your pleasure. It’s the perfect solution for those who crave more Fringe!

Chris Murdoch, Yuki Ueda, and Ryan Mellors, who are all fantastic performers in their own right, teamed up to create The New Conformity, an award winning theatrical social commentary packed with high level circus skills. The Edmonton Journal, who gave The New Conformity four stars for their show at the Edmonton Fringe Festival, praised their work, saying, “One of the great things about this performance was that just when [we] thought their juggling act may be getting too repetitive, they step it up a notch—and then they step it up another notch again.” The entertainment is endless! Come watch!

The New Conformity is on September 25 at 5:45pm at Performance Works.

Ever heard of Just for Laughs, CBC Radio, and/or Sirius Radio? Well, it just so happens that Mike Delamont is associated with all three! It also just so happens that he’ll be bringing the fourth edition of the Fringe favourite, God Is A Scottish Drag Queen to the Pick Plus stage! Don’t miss out on seeing this critically acclaimed and award winning comedian playing one of his most outrageous characters!

God Is A Scottish Drag Queen IV is on September 25 at 7:30pm at Performance Works.

Want more Pick Plus? One Woman Sex and the City: A Parody of Love, Friendships and Shoes and Peter vs Chris are part of the line up too! Click here for more details.

We had the most wonderful volunteers helping to make this year’s Fringe Festival a success! It was so special having such an enthusiastic group, many of whom came from different countries around the world including Colombia, Japan, Peru, China, Brazil, India, and Korea!

When asked how she would like to thank her volunteers, Volunteer Department Head Angie Descalzi said, “The volunteers are the oil that runs this big machine that is the Fringe. We quite simply could not put on the Festival without them.” We loved the great attitudes that were prevalent among our blue-shirted friends! Thanks to each you for positively affecting the Fringe in your own way!

We would also like to thank the sponsors who support the Volunteer Program at the Fringe: the fine folks at Shear Comfort, who are a great supporter of the Volunteer Program! Our volunteers also enjoyed gourmet freezies from Tubify and were kept refreshed with beverages from The Great Jamaican and Sparkling Ice in the Volunteer Centre. We’d also like to give a shout out to Barefoot Wine & Bubbly and Big Rock for providing beverages at the Volunteer Appreciation Party last Tuesday! Not the mention the many small businesses who donated snacks for the Volunteer Centre. Thanks to all of these partners for giving our amazing volunteers a great Fringe experience!
