Fringe Awards

Wow! What a Festival 2010 was!

With an almost 40% increase in attendance and over 50% increase in artists’ takings, it was a banner year – one of the best in our 26 years!!

We capped it off with a great evening at Performance Works with awards and toasts to celebrate those very artists! Once again, the hilarious Toby Berner joined us as Emcee as we recognized this year’s Pick of the Fringe holdover shows and other shows and artists who, quite simply, rose to the peak of the Fringe!

In line with our “All You Can Eat Theatre” theme (ironically, yes) and the amazing contributions that so many of this year’s artists gave from their proceeds, admission was by cash donation to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society. We raised over $450 for the Food Bank at the door! Throughout the 2010 Festival, the artists contributed over $1400. Capitalizing on the Food Bank’s ability to turn one dollar of cash into three dollars of food, together we raised almost $6000 worth of food! Kudos 2010 Fringe Artists and their supporters!!!
